2024 Kips Bay Decorator Show House New York

PRESS RELEASE

___________________________________________________________________________________

Each year celebrated interior designers transform a luxury Manhattan home into an elegant exhibition of fine furnishings, art, and technology.  This event began in 1973 when several dedicated supporters of the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club launched the Decorator Show House to raise critical funds for much needed after school and enrichment programs for New York City children. Over the course of four decades, this project has grown into a must-see event for thousands of design enthusiasts and is renowned for sparking interior design trends throughout the world.

The highly anticipated design event has claimed the iconic Upper East Side townhouse at 125 East 65th Street as its location. The Show House will be open to the public beginning Thursday, May 2nd, 2024, and doubles as the nation’s leading design event of the year as well as the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club’s top fundraiser.

“We are thrilled to return to New York at the heart of creativity and our community. This annual celebration of design not only transforms spaces but also transforms lives, supporting the invaluable programs that empower and uplift the youth in our community. We are incredibly grateful for the unwavering support and commitment to building a brighter future for the children we serve.” notes James Druckman, President of the Board of the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club.

125 East 65th Street is a prime example of the magnificent townhouses and mansions that New York City’s gentry called home at the turn of the century. The townhouse was designed in 1904 by Charles Platt, a prolific architect known for also designing houses for the Roosevelts and Astors, and has been home to several notable residents including publishing magnate Henry Luce and Dr. Frederic Reed, a founder of Columbia University’s Department of Physiology. This May, the desirable residence will call upon a group of leading interior designers and architects to transform the townhouse before it opens to the public for viewing.
